2015

Our January meeting brought a program by Erica Plank of Unseen Hands. She was an interesting and energetic speaker. We enjoyed her stories and her trunk show.

January also means election of officers. It was decided unanimously to keep the slate of officers with the exception of Marilynn Collins who has served us faithfully for the last three years as treasurer. Officers for 2015 are president-Jo Ellen Brown, 1st vice president-Debbie Repp, 2nd vice president-Carolyn K Watkins, Secretary-Ora Majka, and Treasurer-Barabara Peel.

Update: Bus Trip cancelled due to road conditions.  Freezing rain left roads hazardous.

More Show and Tell

Happy Quilting til we meet again.

December

December brings our Christmas party and drawing of our raffle quilt.  In the last several years we invite past, present and interested members to our party. It is a mini reunion with lots of hugs along with show and tell and FOOD.  And speaking of food--Brenda Smith has done an awesome job this last year as our hospitality chair.  She always brings items from home to set up a charming and lovely centerpiece from her collection of quilts, antiques, and decor. Thank you, Brenda.

Lots of visiting

Marie West on the left brought this quilt to show and tell.  Her husband did the hand embroidery and she pieced them together into the quilt top.

Joyce Betty on the right and her lovely quilt

Sherry Denton brought several of her Christmas quilts.

Sherry went on a quilting cruise. One of her projects while onboard ship.

Sam Winover of Two Sisters Quilting brought her store for our program and shopping pleasure.

And drum roll! The winner of our raffle quilt . . . Marie New- a past member!
Congratulations, Marie

Community Service

Our guild supports local charitable organizations.  We make baby quilts for Wise Choices Pregnancy Resource Center .  Christmas stockings for C.A.S.A. of Wise and Jack Counties. Tote bags for Disabled American Veterans in our area.

This is just a sampling of the projects we do for community service.  Good job, Ladies!

September and Sunset Retreat

Debbie Repp, our program chair, got with the folks at Sunset Retreat and Quilt Shop near Alvord, Texas and arranged a day retreat for our guild.  Debbie had some fun projects for us to do or you had the freedom to sew on your own projects.  Lunch was delicious and an afternoon snack was included. Can you say we can always diet tomorrow?!

It was a lot of fun! Members and non-members alike had a wonderful day full of sewing.  Can we please do this again, Debbie?!

Bus Trip 2014

We traveled by bus to Waco Feb. 1, 2014 to the Heart of Texas One Stop Shop Hop at the Waco Convention Center. Lunch was Subway on the bus at noon with dinner stop at Cracker Barrel on the way home.  Sorry I don't have pictures.  But imagine--30+ quilt shop booths in one building and you didn't have to drive; cook; or do dishes.  There were fun and games on the bus along with prizes! Thank you Karen Summitt and ladies for making it a great success.

2014

A new slate of officers was installed in February 2014 -- President- Jo Ellen Brown, 1st Vice President-Program Chairperson -- Debbie Repp, 2nd Vice President-Newsletter--Carolyn K Watkins, Secretary-Ora Majka, Treasurer-Marilynn Collins. Thank you, ladies, for leading our guild into a new year of quilting.

Gaila Coursey now has a full time job that requires her to commute.  She will be missed as our blog editor. Gaila did a fantastic job on the blog.  And later in the year we bid farewell to Karen Summitt who moved out of state.  Karen will be sorely missed.  She was our event planner and quilt show planner.  We had several other members who have moved and we hope to keep in contact -- Georgia Hoag, Kay Lenschow, and Phillis Parsons, If I left anyone off please forgive me.  We wish you ladies well in your new surroundings and as always Happy Quilting.

We welcome all our new members and hope you enjoy our meetings and outings.
